Barunga Workshop Oct 2019

Andrew from Living Languages and Roko from Nyamba Buru Yawuru have just spent 3 days in South Arnhem Land running a workshop with Jocelyn, Betty, Chiyo and Rosemary from the Banatjarl Strongbala Wimun Grup, responsible for passing on the highly endangered Jawoyn language and culture to the next generation of speakers, based at Barunga School, NT. We focused on the Four Stages of Language Learning, and practised lots of fun activities and games for the students at the school to learn Jawoyn language. It was a really productive and inspiring 3 days, and we can't wait to come back to Barunga to see the progress the group has made. Makku!
