Brisbane Workshops Feb 2020
Amy was in Brisbane at the end of February catching up with Aaron (Pitta Pitta) and Sandra (Jandai). While both Aaron and Sandra have been busy preparing for presentations at the Australian Languages Workshop at Minjerribah, they managed to take some time out to get stuck into some language work.
Aaron was a valued member of our Learner’s Guide Reference Group, and now that the template is finished, he’s starting to fill it in for Pitta Pitta. This week he got started on the nouns chapter, and we worked together looking at the Pitta Pitta grammar and other resources to start filling in each section.
Sandra has been working with old records of the Brisbane languages, so this week we looked at how to interpret the inconsistent spelling systems, and how to compare words and spellings from different sources to work out which would have been the likely pronunciation.
